A CHILDISH WAY
TO SAVE THE WORLD

In December 2015, the world's adults will gather in Paris to stop the climate change. Unfortunately, the pledges they are making aren’t enough to halt the increase in Earth's temperature.
Therefore, children from all over the world are going to Södertälje, to have their own climate conference, and put pressure on the world's adults. During the Children's Climate Conference, the children will discuss the climate issue and create an appeal to the leaders in Paris.
– It is childishly simple. We only have one planet, and one chance to save the world.

I like to play puzzling games, read variety of children’s books and gardening. My expectations of this conference are that it will draw the conscious attentions of the present world leaders on the alarming issue of climate change. The leaders of tomorrow will stand united to save our mother earth from any disaster and devastation.

My favorite sport is football. I also like to dance ballet, play with friends and eat pasta. I want the world leaders to fulfill what they say, because I can see in the newspapers that they don't do what they promise. If one small part of the signed agreement would be fulfilled, it would help our planet.

I hope that all the countries unite and fight against the global warming and its effects, trying to improve the planet we live on, so that our future children can see and experience what was possible to have during my childhood, such as rare animal species. They should be able to live in a clean and unpolluted world.

I would like to talk about the importance of water. It brings new life; we see this when babies are born when the water breaks. The reason I’m talking about the water is because our water is getting sick. The factories of the world are making the water sick. Imagine a world without water? All life as we know it would die!

I work to make this planet green and keep it that way. The world leaders are worried about war. They need also to worry about climate change, because it is happening now and it’s happening fast. We have to stop it before it gets so bad that we can’t do anything about it, Let’s make a change, we were only given one earth!

I think we use to much coal and oil. We need to use more clean energy, like wind, solar and water energy. We also need to use energy more efficiently. I our daily life, we use more bicycles instead of cars, turn of flights we don’t use and create some fun toys that use less energy. Please stop the global warming!

I ask of the world leaders to pass laws that protect the environment. They must clean up all the garbage that contaminates the rivers and lakes. Because the garbage makes the water undrinkable, which affects both humans and animals. I want to live in a better world. I also look forward to meet children from other countries.

We must let the world leaders know about the climate situation in my country as other countries. The climate changes are affecting our island; a drought has affected the fruit and vegetable plantations in my province and on the rest of the island. The world leaders must create measures to avoid this in the future.

I split my time between my home village Sarayaku in Ecuador and Finland and both places are being affected by climate change in different ways. This year my home village has suffered two major floods and many other times it has been close to flood. According to our elders this should happen once every fifteen years.

I like kickboxing, zumba and MMA. I also like swimming. We must take a lot better care of the environment: plant more trees and get milk from cows and farms not supermarket. I also think we must use more recycled material.

I play the piano and love sports. In the future we must use more natural things, and not use much plastic, and the plastic we do use must recyclable. Instead of cars, we can use bicycles and electric cars

Due to pollution in Paris, we sometimes have to do sports activities indoors. I also have friends whose throats are irritated by the pollution. Also my neighbor, Mme Coipaux, who has had a garden for over 50 years, tells me that she has noticed the change with her plants; they produce fruits out of the traditional seasons.

I come from Neuilly Plaisance. I’m looking forward to meeting the other children and learning new things about climate change. I would like to say to the adults at COP21 that they should make laws to slow down climate change. That would help protect the home of wild animals like polar bears and also the Great Barrier Reef.

We have no penguins on Greenland! Instead we have polar bears. Sadly the climate is not very good for the bears any longer, because the ice is melting away. With no ice the bears can’t hunt seals, so instead they come close to the land in their hunt for food. So sadly, people are forced to kill them in self-defense.

I like reading books, playing piano and hula-hooping. I have made some eco-friendly efforts to protect our beautiful environment. It is our duty to preserve the beauty of nature for our children. So my demand on the world leaders is to listen to our excellent ideas, which we will come up with at CCC.

Kyoto, where I live, is one of the most famous tourist cities in the world. But the sea temperature is rising. And because of this, the typhoons are getting bigger and stronger. For example, when typhoon No.18 came to Kyoto the Katsuragawa-river flooded. The flood covered houses and roads. The world leaders must take actions!

I go to a school that is very near a place called Mokuru. Mokuru is a very very big dumping site, where all kinds of garbage are thrown, even things like used syringes. When it rains, the garbage flow down to our school. Sometimes we cut ourselves on the syringes. And when it’s really hot, the Mokuru smell makes you vomit.

I am a child and nobody listens to me, because everyone thinks that I am too young. I would like to adults listen. Everyone should stop for a while and think about our future in 30 – 40 years. This conference gives me a chance to do just that, not in 40 years but right now, because in 40 years it may be too late.

Sometimes when I go outside I feel that the air that I breathe feels heavy. It scares me because if I can feel this now. How will the air feel in 10-15 years? That is my biggest concern. I would be happy if the world leaders could tell me their solutions to this problem!

Global warming will make our climate more extreme. Heavy rainfall and storms will increase and our fauna will change. The water level will rise and buildings located on the coast will be flooded. We need to start taking better care of our planet. The world leaders must start taking action!

Climate change is affecting our world because the arctic and Antarctica are melting rapidly and that means cites are becoming flooded and people are dying because of pollution. If I could say one thing to our world leaders it would be to use more solar energy, stop global warming and make the world a better place.
